This Heat Is Making Me Crabby

I wish I had the energy to have something smart to say. My temperature has officially fried my brain. Luckily, for a few hours, as I attacked the pile of crustaceans in front of me, I'm able to revert to an animalistic urge to devour and imbibe. No witty intro needed: it's Crab Fest 2008.

Hit It Out Of The Park

To celebrate a buddy's birthday, we decided upon Korean barbecue to satisfy the hunger cravings of four hungry guys in a celebratory mood. I'd always heard that Park BBQ in Koreatown had the highest quality stuff, and I've gotta agree. This evening was definitely a home run.

A Long Distance Donut

Spring is here, and with it, the arrival of the strawberry donuts at Donut Man. This small donut shop on Route 66 acted as a time marker throughout my college life, heralding the end of the semester and the beginning of my seasonal allergies. But there's one memory I possess, after college, in which Donut Man prominently figures, a memory that began and ended with sugar on my lips.

Hey Big Spender

Tax Day dinged me pretty well, so I thought the conditions were perfect for me to finally talk about my trip to Urasawa. I went last month and to be honest, I've been spending the past few weeks in sort of a post-kaiseki haze. Unlike Uncle Sam (and Aunt California) taking out their share, I am perfectly happy giving Hiro-san a large chunk of change.
